development – Higher Education
Development of a new Strategy for Procurement
including: production of a 3-year Strategic Plan, creation
of a university-wide Purchasing organisation, improvement
of the Oracle Purchase Order Module and agreement to
a stretching savings programme.Process Mapping techniques
were used to define, simplify and write procedures for
3 Purchase to pay processes comprising: fully automated
low value purchasing based on Purchase Cards; improved
and streamlined Oracle Purchase Ordering and Direct
payments to individuals from Accounts Payable.
Logistics & Purchasing change
and cost reduction – Not for Profit/Public Sector
We led a project to bring about significant
culture change and cost reduction for this multi-site
(80 sites) product and manufacturing ‘not for
profit’ organisation. By introducing a dual sourced
logistics solution (parcels and pallets) and developing
a strategic approach to purchasing we targeted an annual
£4million cost saving (£1.2million logistics
and £2.8million purchasing).
Key supplier management –
Defence
Assisted development of the pan-MoD
Key Supplier Management methodology, strategy and pilot
implementation. Individual support to civil servant
teams responsible for Rolls-Royce, BAES Land Systems,
Halliburton KBR and Lockheed Martin. Consultant team
supported production of handbook and associated tools
and techniques for roll out elsewhere in the organisation.
Procurement benchmarking –
Health Sector
High-level review of Purchasing effectiveness within
a specialist organisation employing more than 150 buyers
covering all Purchased needs for the NHS, from food
and facilities management to pharmaceuticals and complex
medical equipment.
Competency Development, Assessment,
& Recruitment – Various industries
Supply Chain Excellence have developed competencies
and ran recruitment assessment centres for Supply Chain
and Strategic Purchasing personnel for a number of organisations
in many different industries. This is often followed
up with 1:1 and team training for new recruits and existing
staff.
Purchasing and Supply Chain Training

Supply Chain Excellence has undertaken a wide range
of training and personal development projects. We offer
a broad and varied series of training programmes ranging
from a comprehensive Personal Development Planning programme
(PDP), where we support strategy, role definition, learning
needs analysis and training delivery; to simply providing
targeted training where content and deliverables have
already been defined. We always work closely with clients
to ensure that training is relevant to their organisation
and dovetails with other initiatives already in place.
