division of a global toy manufacturer was unable to
support the exponential growth that it was experiencing.
By focusing on demand management and process improvements
with the third party logistics provider we were able
to improve customer service from circa 30% to 95% (On
Time In Full) in less than five weeks.
Strategic Sourcing – European
Plastics Manufacturer
Development of Strategic Sourcing methodology
and management of programme roll out across all 7 European
regions for this >€1bn Dutch owned plastic building
materials group – still ongoing. This followed
a strategic review and comprehensive purchasing training
programme (> 50 staff) for all UK operations. benefits
included £multi million savings over 3 years (£1.1m
identified year 1), a more responsive supplier base
and significantly improved systems and processes.
Supply Chain Transformation - Global
Food Ingredients
We provided intensive SCOR Supply Chain
training for UK and Continental Supply Chain Managers
for this global food ingredients business. This was
followed by a Health Check, support for the development
of a Strategic Supply Chain plan, individual skills
and competence analysis and training for the whole team.
The result is annual savings of €1.4million against
purchase cost, €200k on transport and €200k
reduction in uneconomic batches.
Inventory reduction and improved
forecasting/planning – Toy Industry
We were called in to reduce reliance
on external storage through improved utilisation of
the clients warehouse. We quickly discovered that highly
seasonal demand and ordering practices had created significant
quantities of slow moving and obsolete stock.We recommended
a tax efficient disposal initiative and improved warehouse
layout. We are now working on improving the forecasting
and stock planning process as well as addressing the
underlying need for inventory which is a lack of flexibility
/ responsiveness in the manufacturing process.
Sales team re-energizing - Electronics

Facilitated highly interactive workshops
with the sales team to identify and develop projects
that are expected to achieve a 4-fold increase in sales
over 3 years.Work is continuing to support a Distributor
change and motivation programme designed to increase
focus on our client’s products to deliver extra
sales.
Launch of Global Purchasing –
Pharmaceuticals
Facilitated strategic plan development & launch
of Global Purchasing initiative with new high-level
team. Workshop outputs included agreed Vision, Strategic
Objectives and Detailed Action Plans for US, European
and Japanese teams.
Improved Shipping Turnaround Time
– Specialty Mineral Extraction
Managed the Implementation of Ports and Transport performance
improvement for UK subsidiary exporting 1.6million tonnes
of clay through its ports. Resulted in 23% reduction
of time in port for vessels, equating to 12 hours; plus
other significant cost savings.
Competency Development, Assessment,
& Recruitment – Various industries
Supply Chain Excellence have developed competencies
and ran recruitment assessment centres for Supply Chain
and Strategic Purchasing personnel for a number of organisations
in many different industries. This is often followed
up with 1:1 and team training for new recruits and existing
staff.

Undertook Supply Chain due diligence for MBO. Significant
support for the Planning and Manufacturing team for
implementing Key Performance Indicators and planning
improvements for new structure.

Supply Chain Excellence has undertaken a wide range
of training and personal development projects. We offer
a broad and varied series of training programmes ranging
from a comprehensive Personal Development Planning programme
(PDP), where we support strategy, role definition, learning
needs analysis and training delivery; to simply providing
targeted training where content and deliverables have
already been defined. We always work closely with clients
to ensure that training is relevant to their organisation
and dovetails with other initiatives already in place.
